Cancers Screenings at Oncology Las Vegas

Here is a brief overview of the cancer screening process for three types of cancer we offer screenings for:

Breast Cancer

Mammograms are the most common tool used to detect breast cancer. If results from a mammogram are not clear, patients may also receive an ultrasound or MRI. If breast cancer is detected, an MRI can help determine the exact size and location of the cancer and look for other tumors in the breasts.

Prostate Cancer

To screen for prostate cancer, we use a blood test to measure the level of a specific protein in the blood that is made by the prostate. This protein is referred to as prostate-specific antigen, or PSA. Other methods for detecting prostate cancer include a digital rectal exam.

Lung Cancer

We use CT scans to create detailed images of the body. These images can not only help us pinpoint the location of a possible tumor, but see the size, shape, and position. CT scans can also help us see if there are any enlarged lymph nodes or masses that may signify other conditions aside from lung cancer.

Early Cancer Detection Makes a Difference

Many types of cancer are highly treatable if caught early. However, most cancers do not show symptoms until they are more advanced. Early detection through cancer screening can make all the difference in increasing curability and survivorship. Whether it is through a referral from a doctor or part of your own efforts to maintain your health, getting screened for cancer is a smart way to be proactive about your health.

Despite the positives of safeguarding your health by receiving a cancer screening, it can still be a stressful and anxiety-inducing experience. That is why we pride ourselves on having shorter wait times for patients to be seen and receive test results after their appointment. In addition to striving for quick customer service, we pride ourselves on hiring staff who truly care about patients. We even have a dedicated patient navigator to help guide patients through every part of the process.

At Oncology Las Vegas, we believe our patients deserve the best and most compassionate care possible, and that starts with early detection of cancer so our patients can start receiving treatment right away. From the moment you walk through our doors, you can rest assured that our team is here to support you and will be there every step of the way.
